Küstenstadt der antiken Ursprungs, mit projizierten Impulse für die Industrie und den Dienstleistungssektor. Die Gemeinde von San Benedetto, dessen Alterungsindex ist leicht über dem Durchschnitt, liegt vor allem in der Hauptstadt, sondern füllt auch eine Reihe von verstreuten Häusern auf den Fonds und Kleinstadtgebiete von Monte Cretaccio und Bilge. Der alte Teil der Stadt, auf einem bescheidenen Erleichterung gelegen, sammelt mit engen Gassen und unregelmäßigen um den Hauptplatz, vom Fuße des Hügels hinunter zum Strand statt verlängern modernen Viertel, Wanderwege durch breite Straßen mit langen Reihen von Palmen gesäumt. Auf den Sanddünen, die die dünnen Küstenstreifen zu bedecken, jetzt drangen die Badeanstalten, wurden gebildet Mikroumgebungen für das Überleben der Pflanzen typischen Brackumgebung, einschließlich Arten wie der Mohn des Sandes, der ammofila, Soldanella auf das Meer, l ‘ Alfalfa-Yachthafen und Meersenf. The community of San Benedetto, whose aging index is slightly above average, resides mostly in the capital city but also populates a number of scattered houses on the funds and small urban areas of Monte Cretaccio and Bilge. The old part of the town, situated on a modest relief, gathers with narrow streets and irregular around the main square; from the foot of the hill down to the beach instead extend modern neighborhoods, trails by wide avenues lined with long rows of palm trees. On the sand dunes that cover the thin coastal strip, now invaded the beach establishments, were formed microenvironments suitable for the survival of the flora typical brackish environment, including species such as the poppy of the sands, the ammofila, soldanella the sea, l ‘ alfalfa marina and sea rocket. In the hinterland of the township, ranked hilly, abound instead nurseries, vegetable gardens and orchards, which alternate with lush Mediterranean vegetation of oaks, pines, firs and laurel bushes and hawthorn. The more rich and varied fauna is fish, which includes delicious species such as conger eel, sea bass, sea bream and sea bream, as well as shellfish and seafood of all kinds. In the background of silver municipal coat of arms, granted by Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers, stands a warrior who holds a sword in one hand and in the other a palm branch; the warrior is placed in front of a tower overlooking the sea.

La comunità dei sambenedettesi, il cui indice di vecchiaia è di poco superiore alla media, risiede per la maggior parte nel capoluogo comunale ma popola anche una serie di case sparse sui fondi e i piccolissimi agglomerati urbani di Monte Cretaccio e Sentina.

La parte antica dell’abitato, posta su un modesto rilievo, si raccoglie con vie strette e irregolari intorno alla piazza principale; dai piedi del colle fino all’arenile si estendono invece quartieri moderni, percorsi da ampi viali fiancheggiati da lunghi filari di palme.

Sulle dune sabbiose che ricoprono la sottile striscia litoranea, ormai invasa dagli stabilimenti balneari, si sono formati microambienti adatti alla sopravvivenza della flora tipica dell’ambiente salmastro, comprendente specie quali il papavero delle sabbie, l’ammofila, la soldanella di mare, l’erba medica marina e la ruchetta di mare. Nell’immediato entroterra del territorio comunale, classificato collinare, abbondano invece i vivai, gli orti e i frutteti, che si alternano a una florida vegetazione mediterranea di lecci, pini, abeti e cespugli d’alloro e biancospino.

La fauna più ricca e variegata è quella ittica, che annovera specie prelibate, quali il grongo, la spigola, il dentice e l’orata, oltre a molluschi e frutti di mare di vario genere. Sullo sfondo d’argento dello stemma comunale, concesso con Decreto del Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri, campeggia un guerriero, che stringe in una mano una spada e nell’altra un ramo di palma; il guerriero è posto davanti a una torre affacciata sul mare.
